CAD Attack

1. Purpose
1.1. Promote engineering as a career.
1.2. Give students an opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with realistic and practical experiences. Thereby providing them with additional value to studies.

2. Time and place
2.1. April 20, 2017 from 10:45am to 1:00pm
2.2. Computer class U03 – 405, Tallinn University of Technology, Ehitajate tee 5, Tallinn

3. Organizer
3.1. Event organizer: Student Council of School of Engineering of Tallinn University of Technology
3.2. The chief judge of the competition day: Alo Oll

4. Participants
4.1. Taking part in the competition is free of charge.
4.2. There is no age limit for participants.
4.3. Competition requires previous experience with AutoCAD software.

5. Competition task and the essence of competition

5.1. Competitors have to solve different tasks with given drawings – floor plans, elevations, sections.
5.2. Competition consists of four rounds with different tasks in every round.

5.2.1. The first three rounds have a 15-minute time limit per round for completion. The fourth round has a 10-minute time limit.
5.2,2. There is 5-minute break between two rounds to hand out new tasks and prepare for the next round.

5.3. AutoCAD 2015 version is used in the competition.
5.4. Necessary details to solve the task will be given to participants before the next round.
5.5. Faster solving time gives extra points.

6. Ranking

6.1. Maximum points in first three rounds is 30 per round. Correctly solved task gives 3 points, partially completed task maximum 2 points.
6.2. Fourth round maximum point score is 20. Correctly solved task gives 3 points, partially completed task maximum 2 points.
6.3. If task is finished faster than time limit, extra points will be given (0,5p per every minute).
6.4. The participant who has scored the most points at the end of the competition wins.

7. Awards
7.1. Top three teams will be honored with prizes.

7.1.1. 1st prize – 40 EUR
7.1.2. 2nd prize – 20 EUR
7.1.3. 3rd prize – 10 EUR
7.1.4. Top 3 will be awarded with 16GB TTÜ memory sticks

7.2. The ceremony will take place right after competition in the TTÜ assembly hall.

8. Registration
8.1. Registration for the competition will take place electronically via http://2017.buildit-tallinn.eu.
8.2. If there are any free spots left, it is possible to register to the competition before the event starts.
8.3. Any photograph, interview, and video taken on behalf of the organizers during the contest may be displayed on the contest website or in press releases related to this or upcoming competitions without compensation.
